Summary: Responsible for all transportation activities such as freight cost control, coordinating all traffic activities within a manufacturing facility, insuring the correct quantify and product are on order. Also, ensures the workers are doing their jobs correctly and within a timely fashion while maintaining work stations and plant in a neat and orderly manner.    
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Research and make necessary vendor adjustments to ensure that freight costs are maintained at or below standard.
  • Review and select carriers, in accordance with Corporate Freight Manager guidance, to attract and retain the best carrier.
  • Ensure orders are shipped on time and as promised to respective customers, reps, distributors, etc.
  • Control cost by maximizing cartons per man hour to teach and train employees to reduce waste.
  • Manage key projects as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities                                                 
This position supervises a lead and several hourly employees.

Education and/or Experience                                                
Associate’s in Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree in Business, Management or Logistics from an accredited University or College. At least two to three years of experience within a shipping/warehouse environment managing processes and delivery systems. 
 
Language Skills                                             
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
 
Mathematical Skills                                                   
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
 
Reasoning Ability                                                      
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
 
Computer Skills                                             
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Excel Spreadsheet software and MS Word, MS PowerPoint Word Processing software.
